ILMA BY PREDIXON · PROJECT · IDEA STAGE

Safety at home, without a single camera.

Ilma is a connected home safety platform we are developing for older adults who live alone, and for the families and care teams who look after them. Small radar sensors are designed to notice movement, presence and falls — with no cameras, no microphones recording daily life and nothing to wear — so help can arrive quickly while everyday life stays private.

Why Ilma

Europe is ageing, and more and more people choose to keep living independently in their own homes. For someone who lives alone, a fall that goes unnoticed for hours is one of the most serious risks. Today’s answers ask a lot in return: a camera in the living room, or a pendant that has to be worn — and pressed — at exactly the right moment.

Ilma is built around a simple idea: protection should work in the background, even on the days a person forgets about it, and it should never feel like being watched.

The name comes from Estonian, where “ilma” means “without” — as in ilma kaamerata, without a camera. In Finnish, “ilma” is the air: invisible, but always there.

01 Sense

mmWave radar sensors in the main rooms detect movement, presence and falls, and in the bedroom a resting breathing rhythm. Radar sees no images and identifies no faces.

02 Understand

A compact edge-AI hub in the home interprets the signals locally. Raw sensor data is processed on the hub and does not leave the house.

03 Inform

Only meaningful events reach the cloud and the family app, as a calm, graded “Daily Rhythm” feed rather than an alarm for everything.

04 Respond

When something needs attention, family members or care staff are reached quickly. The hub is planned with an SOS button, two-way voice and a backup connection.

Design principles

PrincipleWhat it means
Zero visionNo optical sensors anywhere in the home — not even in shared spaces.
Private by architectureProcessing happens on the in-home hub; only interpreted event data leaves the home.
Nothing to wear or chargeProtection does not depend on remembering a device.
Calm by defaultGraded notifications written without panic language, so families stay informed rather than alarmed.
Wellbeing, not medicineIlma is a safety and everyday-awareness product. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition.

Who it is for

Families

Peace of mind for relatives who live elsewhere: a quiet signal that the day is going as usual, and a fast alert when it is not.

Care homes and assisted living

A multi-room overview for care teams, so attention goes where it is needed without cameras in residents’ rooms.

Partners

Insurers, telecom operators and home-care providers who want to offer camera-free safety as part of their own services.

Where we are today

Ilma is an idea-stage project of Predixon OÜ, developed in Estonia. We are defining the product and working towards a first prototype of the sensor and hub architecture, followed by pilots in real homes and care settings. Performance will be measured and validated in those pilots before we make any claims about it.

We are looking for pilot partners, care organisations and investors who share the view that safety at home should not cost anyone their privacy.
