CHARGEOS · CHARGE POINT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
One platform for every charger on your network.
ChargeOS is Predixon’s OCPP-based charge point management system: real-time device monitoring, remote operator commands, predictive health scoring and firmware campaigns — running on Predixon hardware or on chargers you already own from other manufacturers.
Built on the open standard, not a walled garden
ChargeOS speaks OCPP — the vendor-independent protocol between a charge point and its management system — over an encrypted WebSocket (TLS 1.2+). Because the protocol is open, ChargeOS manages chargers from different manufacturers on a single operational layer, not just Predixon’s own hardware. That means an existing fleet doesn’t need to be replaced to get one dashboard, one set of remote commands and one health model across every site.
How a charge point talks to ChargeOS
Every session, from a device powering on to a completed charge, moves through the same OCPP message sequence:
| Message | What it tells ChargeOS | How often |
|---|---|---|
| BootNotification | Device identity and firmware version, sent on startup or reconnect | On boot / reconnect |
| Heartbeat | The device is alive and connected | Every 30–60 seconds |
| StatusNotification | A connector changed state — Available, Occupied, Faulted | On state change |
| MeterValues | Live voltage, current and energy readings | Every 60 seconds |
| Start/StopTransaction | A charging session opened or closed | Session start / end |
That steady stream is what turns into a live dashboard: which devices are online, which sessions are active, and which connectors need attention right now.
Remote operations, without a truck roll
Most field issues don’t need a technician on site — they need one OCPP command sent from the operations dashboard:
| Command | What it does | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Reset | Soft or hard restart of the device | Recovering a frozen charger |
| UnlockConnector | Releases a locked connector | A cable that won’t disconnect |
| ClearCache | Clears the device’s local authorization list | Authentication errors |
| TriggerMessage | Forces an immediate status or meter update | Confirming current state on demand |
| ChangeAvailability | Sets a connector operative or inoperative | Scheduled maintenance |
Health score & auto-healing
Every charge point carries a live health score from 0–100, weighted across uptime (40%), error rate (30%) and response time (30%). A score above 80 needs no attention; below 40 is flagged as critical. Between those, ChargeOS runs a small set of automatic playbooks before anyone is paged:
- Boot loop — three or more BootNotifications in a row triggers a soft reset, then a hard reset if the loop continues.
- Heartbeat gap — no signal for over 300 seconds triggers a status check, then a forced connection close if the device still doesn’t answer.
- Error burst — three or more errors in a minute clears the local cache, and takes the connector out of service if errors keep coming.
- Slow response — average response time above 5 seconds opens a diagnostic ticket for the field team instead of waiting for a full failure.
This is the same predictive-maintenance logic behind Digital Axon: catching a device on the way down, not after it’s already offline.
Firmware, managed as a campaign
Firmware updates roll out to a targeted group of devices on a schedule, not one charger at a time:
- Create the campaign and pick the target firmware version
- Select which devices are in scope
- Set the rollout window
- Devices download and install on schedule
- Each device reboots and confirms with a fresh BootNotification
If, say, 2 devices out of 50 fail to apply an update, they’re automatically queued for a retry and flagged to the field team — while the other 48 confirm success and reboot cleanly on their own. Nobody has to watch the rollout live.
Security & network resilience
Every connection runs over TLS 1.2+. Authorization checks an RFID card or Plug & Charge request against a local whitelist first, then against the central system — so a charger can still authenticate a known card even during a brief connectivity drop. Reconnection logic follows a circuit-breaker pattern: after 3 consecutive failed commands the connection moves to an open state and stops sending commands for 30 seconds, then tries a single command in a half-open state before fully reopening — protecting a struggling device from being hit with a retry storm.
Inside the platform
Command Center — real-time fleet intelligence
Every charger in the network reports in, live. One dashboard shows what’s charging right now, what needs attention, and what happened today — energy delivered, revenue collected, and fleet availability at a glance.
- Live status for the whole fleet — online, offline, and faulted counts update in real time, with a single health bar for the network at large.
- OCPP version mix (1.6, 2.0.1, 2.1) tracked automatically, no manual inventory required.
- A rolling alarm feed sorted by severity — critical, warning, info — so operators see what matters first.
- Session, energy, and revenue trends charted daily, weekly, or monthly, filterable by site.
Executive Intelligence — a dashboard for every seat at the table
Built on Apache Superset, ChargeOS ships role-based cockpits so a CEO, CFO, CTO, operations lead, and sales lead each get the view that matters to them — without waiting on a report.
- CEO Cockpit: revenue, driver base, network size, and market share at a glance.
- CFO Cockpit: gross/net revenue splits, settlement aging, dispute backlog, 12-month financial trend.
- CTO Cockpit: fleet uptime, manufacturer scorecards, capacity-utilization heatmaps, firmware compliance.
- Operations Cockpit: offline devices, manufacturer uptime comparison, a map of sites awaiting intervention.
- Sales & Growth Cockpit: customer acquisition, ARPU, tariff yield, expansion trend.
- Dedicated OCPP Health, Billing & CDR, and SLA & Compliance dashboards for deeper technical and regulatory views.
8 role-based cockpits · 160+ live charts · one source of truth.
Device Twin — full control down to a single connector
Every charge point in ChargeOS has a living digital twin: hardware spec, live status, and full history in one screen, down to the individual connector.
- One-click remote actions — request status, request meter reading, reboot, clear cache, soft/hard reset, unlock a stuck connector — automatically queued if a device is temporarily offline.
- A dedicated OCPP message inspector shows every Boot Notification, Heartbeat, MeterValue, StatusNotification, and command exchanged with the device, filterable by type and direction.
- Per-device health scoring flags status flapping, heartbeat gaps, and error bursts before a driver ever notices.
- Diagnostic logs pulled straight from the charger, ready to download.
AIOps & Auto-Healing — a fleet that watches itself
ChargeOS doesn’t wait for a customer complaint to know something’s wrong. An always-on anomaly engine watches every heartbeat, every status change, every error — and, where it can, fixes the problem before an operator has to.
- Automatic detection of boot loops, heartbeat gaps, status flapping, and error bursts, each triaged by severity.
- A configurable Policy Studio lets operations teams tune detection thresholds and response actions per fleet, per site, or per device.
- A correlation view links related anomalies together, so one root cause doesn’t look like five separate problems.
- Every anomaly is tracked to resolution, giving operators a clear, auditable maintenance history.
Universal Compatibility — any hardware, any protocol
A charging network is rarely built from one vendor’s hardware. ChargeOS is designed for that reality.
- One platform speaks OCPP 1.6J, 2.0.1, and 2.1 side by side — no forced upgrades, no fleet segmentation.
- A built-in device catalog helps operators evaluate and rank charge points by real fleet performance, not just spec sheets.
- Confirmed interoperability across major AC and DC vendors, from 22 kW wallboxes to 300+ kW fast chargers.
Dozens of brands · hundreds of models · 3 OCPP versions · one platform.
Revenue Engine — tariffs, dynamic pricing & AI-optimized yield
ChargeOS treats every charging session as a financial event, not just an energy event.
- A flexible tariff engine with multi-currency support and per-connector-type pricing.
- Dynamic pricing driven by external market and grid signals, with a preview mode before any change goes live.
- A full Charge Detail Record (CDR) lifecycle — pending, sent, accepted, disputed, settled — built for multi-party billing and roaming settlement.
- Site host revenue-sharing with automated monthly settlement and profit-and-loss reporting per location.
- An AI Revenue Optimizer analyzes utilization and session data to recommend tariff changes, with a projected revenue impact shown before an operator accepts them.
Grid & Energy Intelligence — chargers as a grid asset
As charging fleets grow, they stop being simple loads and start being part of the grid. ChargeOS treats that as an opportunity, not a constraint.
- Smart Charging keeps every site inside its contracted power limit automatically, balancing load across connectors in real time.
- A composite “Grid Harmony” score tracks stability, fairness between vehicles, utilization, and safety headroom — one number for a site’s electrical health.
- A graph-based Topology model maps every site’s electrical hierarchy, flags single points of failure automatically, and scores infrastructure health.
- A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) gateway turns flexible charging capacity into a dispatchable grid resource, ready for demand-response programs.
Trust & Compliance — built for the rules that matter
Public charging infrastructure answers to more than its owner — drivers, roaming partners, and regulators all need to trust it.
- SLA Guardian tracks uptime commitments per contract, flags breaches automatically, and calculates penalties.
- Full ISO 15118 Plug & Charge certificate management (root, sub-CA, and contract certificates) for seamless, cable-only vehicle authentication.
- Token-based access control (RFID, app, or custom) with a live access-check tool to test permissions before they’re deployed.
- Roaming network monitoring flags peer and hub-level issues automatically — including token-sync failures and suspicious authentication behavior.
Volt — an AI operator assistant, built in
Not every question needs a support ticket. ChargeOS includes Volt, a conversational AI assistant that lives inside the platform.
- Ask fleet questions in plain language — “how is the fleet health?”, “list offline devices” — and get an instant, structured answer.
- Get plain-language explanations of OCPP error codes on the spot.
- Dispatch device commands directly from the chat, with every action logged the same way as a manual one.
- Voice input supported for hands-busy field technicians.
Run it on your own fleet, or ours
ChargeOS pairs naturally with Predixon’s own Pro-Charge hardware, but it doesn’t require it. If you’re already operating chargers from other manufacturers, ChargeOS can bring them onto the same dashboard, the same remote commands and the same health model — without a hardware swap.
